NYCC therapist Natalie Renteria, MHC-I

Natalie Renteria

A first-generation Colombian American and Afro-Latina, Natalie’s therapeutic philosophy is deeply rooted in her familial connection to holistic healing practices. With an ancestral lineage of attunement to the earth and indigenous folk medicine, Natalie has cultivated this inheritance to honor and foster the human mind, body, and spirit.

Growing up in an intergenerational home, Natalie was immersed in a rich tapestry of cultures and familial dynamics. She played a vital role in bridging linguistic and cultural gaps as the first person in her family to speak English. Natalie was also the first person in her family to earn Associate’s, Bachelor’s, and Master’s degrees, all of which she did with honors.

After earning awards and leadership positions in undergrad, Natalie worked in various capacities at the intersection of documentary filmmaking and youth empowerment before returning to graduate school. To find relief from physical and mental health challenges, Natalie founded Earth Mother Medicine and organizes healing circles.

As a multimedia artist, Natalie finds solace and expression in mixed media paintings, photography, videography, poetry, and dance.
