Anthi Lourou, MHC-LP
Anthi grew up in Cyprus, a small island country near Greece. From a family of volunteers greatly involved in the community, Anthi became an active member of the Red Cross Psychosocial Support Program from a young age. Anthi came to the US on a Fulbright scholarship and completed a master’s degree in clinical psychology in 2013. Moving to a metropolis like New York, Anthi understands the growth and challenges of making life decisions and following your passions.
As a naturalized ex-patriot who has adopted New York as her home, Anthi understands our many differences and our many human similarities. Anthi’s infectious spirit transcends culture. As a constant learner, Anthi is currently pursuing post-master’s training at NYU with focus on alcohol, substance abuse and trauma. She is fluent in English and Greek.
While we cannot control the world, we can control our reactions to it. Using CBT and DBT techniques, Anthi will help you identify maladaptive patterns and replace them with more effective ways to decrease your symptoms and cope with life difficulties, improve your relationships and live a fulfilling life.
Anthi works with people to increase their self-awareness and self-trust as the building blocks of reaching their goals. Through increasing our confidence in ourselves and clarity of purpose, we are also able to deepen our relationships with others. We are all capable of positive change as long as we keep identifying the hidden hurdles within ourselves and work to overcome these blindspots.
